The first stage of the Burrum Heads Caravan Park redevelopment is now complete, featuring larger camping sites and becoming the Fraser Coast’s first Council-operated dog-friendly park.
The Stage One works focused on the southern portion of the park and included new roads, underground power, water and sewerage systems, as well as modern facilities like a barbecue area, new toilets, and a new manager’s residence.
Stage Two upgrades are set to begin this month, focusing on the area between Burrum Street and the Burrum River, with completion expected by October 2025.
The Park's enviable location makes it ideal for bird-watching, boating, fishing, water sports and safe swimming, and if the location and stunning river outlook aren't enough, the Park's tinnie ramp gives keen boaties and anglers the advantage of being able to launch their tinnies without even having to hook up to the car (Tinny Ramp Only). It doesn't get any better!
The township boasts its own shopping centre to satisfy most daily needs, and Whale Watching tours from Hervey Bay (late July to early November) as well as year-round Fraser Island and Lady Elliot Island tours, which can be arranged at the park's tour desk.
Burrum Heads is located about three and a half hours drive north of Brisbane and approximately half an hour from Hervey Bay and Maryborough. If a change of pace is what you're after, this will not disappoint.
